Formed in 1977 by Ray Parker Jr. and featuring core vocalist Arnell Carmichael, Raydio was a defining R&B and funk group famous for blending smooth soul with upbeat synthesizers. They dominated the late 70s and early 80s charts with their top five hit singles—"Jack and Jill," "You Can't Change That," "Two Places at the Same Time," "A Woman Needs Love (Just Like You Do)," and "That Old Song"—before disbanding in 1981 so Parker could launch his highly successful solo career.
